Golfsmith Helps 9-Year-Old Golf Entrepreneur Pursue His Dreams

Seth Damsgard of Minneapolis, MN would do anything for golf, so much so that, in order to make the game more accessible to other players, he’s made it his mission to design affordable Yardage Books for public golf courses.

Austin, TX (July 6, 2016) – Seth Damsgard’s passion for the game of golf has led him down the path of an entrepreneur. Having already begun to establish a career as a player, Seth’s current mission is to create high-quality Yardage Books for public golf courses.

Seth originally contacted Golfsmith to see if the world’s largest specialty golf retailer was interested in in forming a partnership to help him achieve his goals. To assist him further, Golfsmith sent Seth a rangefinder to aid him in getting accurate yardages for his book (Seth was previously using Google Earth), as well as some Golfsmith-branded gear and a letter from Golfsmith CEO David Roussy.

At nine years old, Seth already recognizes the importance of an accurate Yardage Book. Not every junior golfer has access to high-tech equipment used by the pros, including rangefinders, GPS watches, or handheld GPS devices to check on the specifics of any given course or hole. Likewise, many of the smaller public golf courses simply can’t afford to have Yardage Books designed or printed.

Seth is hoping his Yardage Books will be able to help junior golfers and any golfer, experienced or beginner, who wants to use their own personal Yardage Book when playing on their favorite public course.

In addition to the meticulously drawn and labeled maps, each Yardage Book will also include a small section detailing some of the most common rules encountered (and debated) by players today. If you want to “play by the book,” these extra pages will be a welcome addition to any player’s game.
