Carrying a bag full of matching-length irons is is concept that’s been around since at least the 90s, but with advancements in modern technology, COBRA has proven it’s very real and viable option for players of all levels with the new KING F7 One Length and KING Forged One Length iron sets.
If you’re confused to how using a single-length iron set could be advantageous for your game, consider this: One setup. One swing. Every time you address your approach shot, you’re addressing it with the same posture, ball position and so forth. Naturally, it could work wonders for your consistency to have every iron built around most golfers’ favorite club: the 7 iron.
As noted above, the idea is older, but new fast face irons mean the 4, 5, and 6 irons can still produce high ball speeds with a 7-iron length shaft (37.25″), and head weight and lofts can be tuned with shorter irons, producing more consistent gapping distances throughout the set. Certainly helping the case for the single-length revolution is Bryson DeChambeau, who burst onto the scene last year by winning the U.S. Amateur Championship, playing well at the Masters and U.S. Open, and then ultimately securing his PGA Tour card with a Web.com Tour Playoff victory, all while using single-length irons.
For the 2017 season, COBRA has not only one single-length option, but two, meaning players of all levels can take change the way they play.
COBRA KING F7 ONE LENGTH IRONS
Built with one length but 4 head designs, the F7 ONE LENGTH set creates adequate launch conditions through the set to create equal gaps, high launch and added overall distance. Based on the new KING F7 progressive length irons, this variation’s PWRSHELL Face and TECFLO construction combine with progressive spin technology (V-Grooves on the 4-6 irons to reduce spin,
U-Grooves on the 7-PW to optimize spin, and wedge-spaced grooves on the GW-SW to produce extra spin for shots around the green) to help with high long irons and accurate short irons.
KING F7 One Length 5 Iron
Progressive Set Technology: (L-R: 4i, 5i Full Hollow; 6i, 7i Half Hollow; 8i-PW Cavity; GW-SW Specialty)
KING F7 One Length Gap Wedge
Stock Lamkin REL grip & Fujikura Pro 63i (graphite) or True Temper King F7 (steel)
TECFLO (PROGRESSIVE SET TECHNOLOGY)
Multiple technologies constructed to create the ultimate progressive set of irons designed to help you personalize your game and optimize performance throughout the set.
More distance. More forgiving. More precise. A thinner, stronger face and sole structure delivers our largest Sweet Zone ever with higher ball speeds and explosive distance.
COBRA KING FORGED ONE IRONS
A players iron in one-length form, the KING Forged One is the preferred iron of DeChambeau, and was in his bag for his victory at the Albertsons Boise Open. Featuring forged construction, better players-friendly lofts and purpose-built shaft (KBS Tour FLT, which is built for lower flying “short irons” and high flying “long irons”), the Forged One will soon be the only one-length players offering available widely.
5 STEP FORGING PROCESS
Allows for more precise iron shaping and a more refined grain structure for superior feel.
High density tungsten weight is strategically positioned on the sole for a lowered and centered CG that delivers forgiveness and precision.
100% CNC MILLED FACE & GROOVES
CNC milling improves groove structures to deliver maximum spin and trajectory control.
Both the KING F7 ONE LENGTH and the KING FORGED ONE LENGTH will be available for pre-order and in-store fittings in early December, and ready to put in your bag by January of 2017.
